5,000 m² farm lots with a 165-ha nature reserve on the Maldonado stream

About

El Quijote Chacras is a gated community of small farms on Camino Cerro Eguzquiza, km 10.5, between La Barra and San Carlos. It covers some 360 hectares of rolling countryside with ponds and lagoons; 165 of them are a private nature reserve with native woodland and about 2 km of frontage on the Maldonado stream.

It is one of the oldest farm communities in Maldonado: the project started in 2000 and the first houses went up around 2005. There are 242 lots, mostly around 5,000 m², and more than 140 homes; roughly 55 families live there year-round. Listing portals show lots between U$D 65,000 and 170,000.

The club house has a restaurant (daily in summer, weekends in winter), a zoned pool and a grill with a stone oven. There are tennis and padel courts, a gym, an organic vegetable garden, stables and horse riding, kayaks and, by the stream, La Ribereña: a small beach with a lookout and barbecue spots. A children's summer camp runs in season.

Water comes from the community's own wells with a reverse-osmosis plant, power lines are underground and roads are gravel. Security operates 24 hours a day. Rules require at least 140 m² of living space and every design must be approved by the Architecture Committee. Monthly fees are around U$D 580–600, plus a temporary special levy.

It suits people who want genuine country living with horses, space and quiet, about 10 minutes from the beaches of La Barra and 20 from Punta del Este. There is no direct ocean access.
