Parque del Lago

Parque del Lago is a gated community on national Ruta 11, about five minutes from the centre of San José de Mayo, capital of San José department. It is one of the few gated neighbourhoods in Uruguay's interior aimed at year-round homes for local families, and is marketed by the agency Diego Perdomo.

The project has two artificial lakes set in parkland. In 2021 it was described as 140 plots of about 1,200 m², priced around U$D 55,000, with new two- and three-bedroom houses selling for about U$D 250,000; a quarter of the lots had been sold by then. Current listings offer plots from 1,256 m² (24.5 m frontage) and 1,353 m² corner plots facing the lakes.

Access is restricted to owners, with a gatehouse and entry control, CCTV and surveillance. Services include internal roads and upkeep of the parkland, gardens and lakes, and common charges are advertised as very low. In 2021 a club house, sports courts, a pool and other services were promised, but current listings describe the club house and courts as future plans.

Each owner builds their own design in line with the community's rules, which are not public. Photos show dirt roads, generous plots and a growing cluster of houses.

It suits people who want to live in San José de Mayo with more greenery and security: no country-club luxuries, but large plots at interior prices.
